The Tucson-Pima Library Foundation (TPLF) is a non-profit organization formed in 1999 to ensure the continuing vitality and excellence of our library system by developing and sustaining a permanent endowment fund for the long term benefit of the Tucson-Pima Public Library system. This permanent fund would provide funds for materials and programs over and above the existing tax-based funding of approximately $18 million annually. The endowment fund is meant to augment, not replace, public funding.
Current tax-based funding from city and county government does not provide enough money to keep pace with the population growth and does not provide enough money for future growth. Therefore, we must obtain private funding for long term needs of the library. The non-profit Tucson-Pima Library Foundation (TPLF) is answering the challenge, launching a campaign to develop and sustain a permanent endowment fund. Such a public/private partnership will enable the library system to improve its services to an increasingly diverse, rapidly growing population.
The interest from this permanent endowment fund will be used to support enhancements to the collections, services, and special programs of the Tucson-Pima Public Library
